Motion Accomplished:
A New Era in Chronic Stroke Recovery
Kandu, Inc. is pioneering an integrated approach to post-stroke recovery, combining FDA-cleared brain-computer interface therapy with care models designed to extend rehabilitation beyond the hospital. The IpsiHand® System is the first and only FDA-cleared BCI therapy for upper-extremity rehabilitation after stroke. Kandu’s solutions support improved mobility and continuity of care while delivering meaningful value for patients and providers.
Results that Matter
Results from At-Home BCI Rehabilitation Therapy for Chronic Upper Extremity Deficit After Stroke (BCI-REHAB): A Randomized Trial show that IpsiHand achieved a number needed to treat (NNT) of 2.2 in order for 1 additional patient to achieve clinically meaningful improvement. 55.5% of patients assigned to IpsiHand achieved MCID within the first 12 weeks of therapy, compared to 9.6% of patients assigned to a Home Exercise Program.

Home-Based Brain-Computer Interface Therapy for Chronic Post-Stroke Upper Extremity Impairment: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Saturday, November 14, 2026 | 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM | Theater 1
In this randomized trial of chronic stroke survivors with persistent upper extremity impairment, 12 weeks of home-based IpsiHand BCI therapy produced significantly greater motor recovery than a standard home exercise program (UEFM +6.0 vs. +1.5 points, p=0.0007). A clinically meaningful response was seen in 55.5% of BCI participants vs. 9.6% of controls. Stop by Booth #336 after the session to see IpsiHand live.
Beyond the Plateau: Brain-Computer Interface Rehabilitation for Upper Extremity Recovery After Chronic Stroke
Friday, November 13, 2026 | 1:45 PM - 2:15 PM | Theater 4
For many stroke survivors, persistent arm and hand impairment remains long after traditional rehabilitation ends. A perceived plateau often closes the conversation about further recovery. This 30-minute Learning Lab explores how noninvasive brain-computer interface (BCI) rehabilitation offers another approach for selected patients with chronic stroke.
Participants will learn how IpsiHand® detects EEG signals associated with intended movement and translates them into assisted movement through a powered handpiece. This repeated pairing of motor intent with sensory feedback aims to support neuroplasticity and motor relearning. Authorized through the FDA’s De Novo pathway, IpsiHand provides prescription, home-based rehabilitation without surgery.
